About this listen

Mike Bravo. Knights in shining...camo.

Iris:

I live for adrenaline. The thrill of the chase. And because I work for Mike Bravo, a private black-ops firm, it’s my job to go into dangerous situations. But when we’re called in to extract a military team from a hostile situation, the thrill is so much better. Because one of those men happen to be the golden boy from my basic training days.

Brock “Saint” Harlow was a walking Captain America in the flesh. The perfect soldier. Now my boss wants to recruit him, and I can’t wait to rub it in his face that he was rescued by me. The class clown. I’m not called Iris “I require intense supervision” for nothing.

Saint:

Military life is all I’ve known since I was born. I was raised to be a soldier. But when a top-secret mission fails, I find myself suddenly discharged with nowhere to go.

Mike Bravo saved my life, and they want me to join them, but there’s one small problem. Isaac “Iris” Griffin. He’s as irresistibly snarky as he always was, only there’s a big difference this time.

I’m no longer closeted or scared to live my truth. And the truth is, I’ve always wanted him. It’s against Mike Bravo’s rules to fraternize with other team members, and I always follow orders. But something tells me Iris might be worth the insubordination.

Love can be heart-warming refuge amidst a war.

Alexander Cendece and Tim Paige make this book truly worth it. Their "narration" is more of a performance and acting. It's delightful for me. I always never go wrong with them being narrators.

I kind of disagree with someone's comment they're talking too fast. I mean that's literally how I and most people fluent in English talk; always. Especially me, ADHD makes me a fast talker.
However, I do understand that for those still learning English might be a very hard time. But that doesn't mean it's the narrator's fault they can't keep a with some words; is it? They're not talking that fast at all.

Eden Finley's stories are always so sweet and heart-melting. It's not very stressful and I can just focus on the lovely story. There's no stupid self-sabotaging drama like books I read that annoys me.

Isaac "Iris" Griffin and Brock "Saint" Harlow's relationship is one of those soldiers' dream romances.
Falling into love can be very hard when two men have extremely different lives and emotional connections and wavelength is a hard match.
That is one of the reasons these two guys can emotionally connect. Not just a friend who has sympathy and shoulders to lean on; But much much beyond that.
They have a complete emotional connection right at the very beginning of their re-acquaintance. They know the score. They both saw the extremely dangerous, horrible images and nightmarish trauma their careers can put them through in an instant. Knowing that every day can be your last day. Much more than most people. Loving another soldier is much scarier. At that moment, you suddenly have a guy to care about much more than your life; and a guy caring about you much more than himself.
An amazing story that I wish lasted much longer. I would've loved to see more of these two men's relationship from their perspective.

Awesome

Eden really excels at writing fun characters. And Iris and Saint are perfect together with their banter and chemistry!

Two ex-rivals with super different personalities who find themselves as colleagues and a lot of never explored desires. It’s the perfect storm for a hot and delicious romance.

Iris is hilarious, cocky, and super competitive and gives off excited puppy energy. Mixed with Saint who is composed, serious, and extremely competent. With the backdrop of missions, and Saint recovering from his injuries, these two exploring their attraction and friends is really fun.

I’m sorry I’m late to the party on this one, but I’m looking forward to getting more of these eclectic mercenaries.

A voice makes or breaks it

I love the Mike Bravo books, and have read them all. Natural progression: listen to the story while driving or doing artsy things. But I'm not even through chapter 1, and I can't keep going. The Iris narrator's voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I have three issues, here. 1. He talks too fast. I get it, Iris is like a caffeinated puppy, so is gogogo. But the speed is giving me anxiety (and I'm a native English speaker, so the other review saying people can't keep up is just wrong there). I had to slow it down to 80% to not get tense. 2. He's a wet talker. IYKYK. 3. The voice itself is annoying to me. I cannot listen to 3 more hours of him. I guess I'll stick to rereading the actual book.

Not great, but okay.

The story was all right. Not a lot of plot and way too much sex, in my opinion. What I disliked most was the speed of the narration. Had to drop the speed to 85 just to make it understandable. Good thing I got this cheap. Won't listen to again and not sure if I will buy more if this is how they all go.
