About this listen
The long-awaited sequel to Jake’s Magical Market is finally here—and now with more market!
Well, not quite yet. First, Jake has to survive a perilous trek through time if he ever hopes to return home to his friends, his market, and his former world. The last time we saw our intrepid hero, Jake had barely managed to escape being trapped on a dead version of his own world. Using a combination of his new powers, he threw himself backward through time, back to when the god that trapped him first rose to power. There, Jake snatched divinity from the hands of the ascending god, consuming it for himself without any regard for the consequences of his actions. In a surprise twist, such a poorly thought-out plan came with some serious downsides! Now Jake has a big target painted on his back. The jealous gods of this world are hungry for divine power and not afraid to kill another god to get it. Stuck in the past, Jake must learn to navigate a world full of desperate gods, wild monsters, bizarre powers, and weird “cultivating” mortals who claim they can become just as powerful as the gods themselves—as long as they get to sit around contemplating the mysteries of the universe for a few hundred years first. Join Jake on his next grand adventure as he learns what it means to be a newly ascended divinity, how to survive in such a strange new world, and how he might just have an unexpected edge on everyone and everything that’s out to get him—by learning how to craft his own magical cards!
**Boasting a 4.7-star rating with over 11,000 reviews on Amazon/Audible, this sequel is a must-have for fans of Gamelit novels, wild adventures, and stories about regular people traveling to strange new worlds. Also, stay tuned for the third book in the series, which is gonna be even bigger, crazier, and full of even more magical cards. And it’s coming out in just a couple of months!**

Story
A gunslinger with four affinities is a myth. It's the kind of story whispered in frontier saloons one drink before closing and around campfires in the dead of night. For the heroes and villains in those tales, that impossible power is a boon, a gift. For Mr. Jones, it's a curse. Of course, that's not his real name. He's had many. Changing names is necessary when you possess a power that every lawman and outlaw would kill to obtain. To survive, you keep your head down, kill when you must, and never stay in one place too long.

just as great s first
so I love jakes magical market, when I heard the second was coming out but being voiced by someone else I was a bit disappointed but the author was open and honest about what was going on and why Travis couldn't do the narration I understood, and John was the perfect pick to take over the voice. You receive a perfect score from me! and I believe this is either my first or second rating of a book from my audible library of 400 books! so everyone don't be turned off by the narrator switch give it a chance John was able to keep the emotion and character of Jake for who he was in the first book! now hurry up with the third book already!!

Better than book 1
The new narrator is even better though that ought to be humanly impossible. This was a fun wild ride! Knowing what sort of story I was into made much more sense of book 2. I've pre ordered 3 🤘

Great Second Entry to an Amazing Series!
Great follow-up to the first book, which was great in its own right. I'd have to say that this book was a lot tighter and more even than book 1, which is probably a result of the author having released several books in his Portal to Nova Roma series since JMM1.
The big story of this release was the narrator change. Obviously going to anyone else from the venerable Travis Baldree is going to be a risk, and worry fans. However, after taking a few chapters to get used to John Pirhala's narration, I have to say he nailed it. Honestly this blew away even my most optimistic expectations. He puts his own spin on Jake, but it works.
Can't wait for the third book. Especially excited based on the ending of this book and the title of Book 3 (check it out on Goodreads if you don't mind a minor spoiler).

Loved it
I’m so into the story! The narrator really bring it to life, listening to the story I can see all the scenes in my head, the narrator talks at a great pace and his voice is what I imagine the real Jake to have.

So much magic
what I like about this series is that there are so many sources of magic. the author really feels like he went out of his way to pick up every source of magic and seemlessly interweave them into the story. oh and the new narrator did amazing at his new position, seemlessly picking up the story

I’m SO GLAD I took a chance on this
I admit, I was so nervous about the narrator change as Baldree is the literal God of narration, man I have to give a huge props to John, his narration was as seamless a transition as could be possible. So well done. I’m so glad I took a risk on it. The book itself was even better then book 1 which I did not expect. I LOVE the direction the story has taken, I’m dying for book 3.

i almost didnt continue the series but that would have been a mistake. travis is travis. andrea is andrea. jeff is jef... there are others and they need their own exposure. i appreciated the new characters voicing and the old matching needed and by the end of the book, i just wanted book 3 out now. good job folks.
