Publisher's Summary

An ordinary snapshot causes a mother’s world to unravel in an instant. After picking up her two young children from school, Grace Lawson looks through a newly developed set of photographs. She finds an odd one in the pack: A mysterious picture from perhaps twenty years ago, showing four strangers she can’t identify. But there is one face she recognizes—that of her husband, from before she knew him.

When her husband sees the photo that night, he leaves their home and drives off without explanation. She doesn’t know where he’s going, or why he’s leaving. Or if he’s ever coming back. Nor does she realize how dangerous the search for him will be. Because there are others interested in both her husband’s past and that photo, including Eric Wu: A fierce, silent killer who will not be stopped from finding his quarry, no matter who or what stands in his way.

Her world turned upside down, filled with doubts about her herself and marriage, Grace must confront the dark corners of her own tragic past as she struggles to learn the truth, find her husband, and save her family.

Amazing story but distracting narration.

I absolutely loved the story but Dawes narration is very whiney and distracting. Her voice acting is great but her voice is very robotic and she drags the last word of every sentence.

The female reader is unbearable

I normally listen to audio books as I drift off to sleep as I find it very soothing. I could not do it with this book. Listening to the female reader is like listening to a fork scrape along a plate. Monotone with forced enthusiasm. She hangs on the end word of every sentence as if it were a question,

Story line is great. The male reader is great, But the female reader made this book very difficult to get through.

The female narrator is not good!

I love Harlan Coben books and I read the reviews so I listened to the sample. The sample was of the make reader…he is great. Then there is this female reader that has a very sing songy tempo at the ends of sentences that drive me to distraction. Beware, this is a great story with awful narration.

Distracted by female reader

Great story, terribly distracting female reader. Tough to stick with it but worth it in the end.

Terrible Narration, Solid Story

The worst narration I have ever heard. Especially the female voice. I would swear that it was computer generated, and poorly done at that, the inflection was so off.

I quit after about an hour, and finished the story in ebook form.

Irritating narration

The story is not bad. Not great but not bad

The cadence of the voice of the female narrator is is irritating beyond belief. She seems to lower her voice at the end of the last word in most sentences and often in between

It’s enough to make you stop listening

I powered through it but I have to say that it was difficult. I nearly gave up

Major narration issues

I agree with most of the previous comments. I love everything Harlem Coben however the female narrator made it almost impossible to finish. Hard to imagine the producers did not pick up on how irritating her diction and affect is.

A solid okay (Audio version)

The male narrator was great! The female narrator’s voice was grating. It was hard to continue to listen. She had a strange cadence that seemed almost unnatural.

The story was pretty good, however, this is the first Harlan Coben book that I was able to guess who the villain was many chapters before the story ended. I didn’t guess all of the ways the story fit into place though, so it was still good entertainment for me.
