Doesn’t disappoint even 30 years later

I read this book years ago and I listened to it recently on holiday in Europe. I very much enjoyed the twists and turns Mr Archer takes with his characters. Family, feuds, intriqué and in the end a bitter sweet ending. Historically mostly accurate as well.

Good read of a modern classic

Jeffrey Archer is a storyteller extraordinaire. This tale of 2 boys, born on the very same day, on opposite parts of the world and into completely opposed circumstances is gripping and exciting. Two men, who might have been the best of friends, but because of circumstance became bitter enemies. The characters are well developed and each loved (or hated) intensely by the reader. Just a wonderful tale. The reading by Jason Culp was excellent too. Highly recommend!

A classic, still relevant today.

This is the first Jeffrey Archer book that I have read. It is a good story, well told and narrated, juxtaposing a European life with an American one of two very different men whose paths cross in their adult years. Excessive pride and revenge consume the two men with a sad but poignant ending. It is an easy listen and I enjoyed it.

Wished it never ended

As the story continued, I wished it could gone on forever. Every story must end.

I really enjoyed this book. I had read it years ago and it was just as good the second time. Great narration!

Starts out great, but becomes terrible.

The first quarter is riveting. almost like it was written by completely different author. It lures you in with an incredibly compelling premise before turning into one the most neoliberal America's d*ck sucking piece of garbage I've ever heard with female characters that are laughably stupid, and are basically window dressing for the two men that we follow.
