About this listen

The grief remains, but you expand around it....

Prepare to embark on an intimate exploration of grief and transformation within Kintsugi Your Heart: The Art of Living with Grief. In this heartfelt collection of poems, Carol Banens, a certified grief to gratitude coach and certified grief educator, offers a deeply personal account of her own grief journey, following the loss of her beloved husband, Brian.

Drawing inspiration from the art of Kintsugi, the Japanese technique of mending broken pottery with gold, Carol beautifully weaves together the shattered fragments of her heart, transforming them into a life worth living. Divided into three sections, "Shattered", "In Pieces", and "Making Broken Beautiful", this book of poems chronicles the full spectrum of the grieving experience. With raw honesty, Carol illuminates the pain and loneliness that accompany loss, the disorienting struggle to adapt to a changed world, and the gentle steps toward self-discovery. Her collection of poems offers solace and inspiration, encouraging listeners to not only allow themselves to grieve but also to embrace the possibility of a renewed life.

Kintsugi Your Heart: The Art of Living with Grief serves as a compassionate companion, guiding listeners through the labyrinth of grief while providing hope for healing and self-discovery. Allow Carol's words to resonate with your own journey, offering solace, hope, and the gentle reminder that from shattered pieces, beautiful transformations can emerge.

A Graceful Journey From Heart Reeling To Heart Healing

There's no denying that we are all forever changed by the loss of those dearest to our hearts.
We all know that death is an inevitable part of life, but we can never truly comprehend the profundity of loss until personally experienced.
In "Kintsugi Your Heart," Carol bares her heart with such poetic eloquence, capturing the aching vulnerability that we are all forced to navigate when in the trenches of grief. Carol has given us all a voice to what previously felt indescribable. She lovingly creates a safe space to, unapologetically feel, and then gently heal the tattered remnants of the untouched, unfelt, disenfranchised parts of ourselves. Moreover she unreservedly exposes her journey, so poignantly, from heart-reeling to one of heart-healing. Her incredibly touching, Work of "Heart" gracefully paints the palette of sentiment that pierces all of our hearts...and from such a deep dimension that lingers.
I highly recommend both her paperback, and audio book as treasured companions to one another
With each repeated listening, Carol's softly-spoken, tender-hearted, and soothing inflection continues to further envelop me like a warm embrace...a deeper intimacy, even more cathartic.
For that I am eternally grateful!
Caroline Gibson.
