Publisher's Summary

Lancater and York is a riveting account of the Wars of the Roses, from the beloved and best-selling historian Alison Weir. The war between the houses of Lancaster and York was characterised by treachery, deceit, and bloody battles. Alison Weir's lucid and gripping account focuses on the human side of history. At the centre of the book stands Henry VI, the pious king whose mental instability led to political chaos, and his wife Margaret of Anjou, who took up her arms in her husband's cause and battled in a violent man's world.

Annoying Quotes

Although the rest of the book is well narrated, she all of a sudden will take on some strange Lord of the Rings or witch like voice when she is quoting. Instead of sounding more authentic, she sounds like she is having a stroke. Very jarring and unappealing.

Chronological, account of the time period, GREAT

most aimed at students of history, it gives a great timeliness of events. with a reasonable amount of author commentary, I guess to keep it from getting to dry.

Great book!

Easily one of the best books about the Wars of the Roses. Very engrossing with many primary and secondary sources scattered throughout. Pretty solid narration
