Publisher's Summary

NY Times Critic’s Pick

As a precocious kid who took Broadway by storm at the age of 18, Laura Benanti spent her formative years playing grown-ups onstage, but it took her a while to figure out how to be one in real life. With her razor-sharp wit and unapologetic candor, Benanti shares her hard-won insights on topics like marriage, motherhood, perimenopause, female friendship, and making peace with the younger versions of ourselves. Whether you’re a mom juggling a million responsibilities, or just anyone trying to navigate the complexities of becoming a person that you’re proud of—prepare to laugh until you cry as Benanti skewers the societal expectations and double standards that so often leave us feeling like “nobody cares”.

Punctuated with five original songs co-written by Benanti and Todd Almond, Laura Benanti: Nobody Cares was recorded live during a sold-out run at the Minetta Lane Theater in New York City.

Available in Dolby Atmos on Audible.

Editorial Review

Baddest b*tch in the room
Laura Benanti has otherworldly energy and out-of-this-world humour with a very healthy side of guts. There is no part of the stage at the Minetta Lane Theatre that she leaves untouched with her struttin’ and groovin’ to a great band and backup singers (she calls them her inner demons; they could be angels too). A great storyteller, Benanti confesses to being a people pleaser. If this “condition” has been an obstacle, she has surely kicked it straight out of her life. And apparently it all worked out, because without that, could she have been the talented star that she is? Unfortunately, the show doesn’t deliver on its title, “Nobody Cares,” because at the end – everybody cares, Laura. Brava! —Yvonne D., Audible Editor

Immensely Enjoyable

Laura Benanti is entertaining and engaging as a performer. Equally, if not even more impressive, is her ability to tell her own stories with this blend of comedy, sincerity, musical ability and self reflection.

Had to Turn it Off

Couldn’t get past halfway. The show would be funny if it weren’t so true. You can’t be self-effacing and unapologetic at the same time. Give this to your kids as a cautionary tale about wanting to be famous.
