Publisher's Summary

A Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover comes a novel that explores life after tragedy and the enduring spirit of love.

When Leeds meets Layla, he’s convinced he’ll spend the rest of his life with her - until an unexpected attack leaves Layla fighting for her life. After weeks in the hospital, Layla recovers physically, but the emotional and mental scarring has altered the woman Leeds fell in love with. In order to put their relationship back on track, Leeds whisks Layla away to the bed-and-breakfast where they first met. Once they arrive, Layla’s behavior takes a bizarre turn. And that’s just one of many inexplicable occurrences.

Feeling distant from Layla, Leeds soon finds solace in Willow - another guest of the B&B with whom he forms a connection through their shared concerns. As his curiosity for Willow grows, his decision to help her find answers puts him in direct conflict with Layla’s well-being. Leeds soon realizes he has to make a choice because he can’t help both of them. But if he makes the wrong choice, it could be detrimental for all of them.

Not the best

I found the storyline was a little ridiculous but I liked the characters. It was just, ok.

Struggled through this…

The storyline wasn’t bad. The sex scenes were steamy. The narrator’s “female” voice was almost unbearable hahaha I could not take it seriously. Some parts had me literally groaning or rolling my eyes but nonetheless, I kept coming back and finished it in good time! Might be more enjoyable to read it yourself vs listening to the audiobook.

Slow start but…

It gets better and better with each chapter. Honestly, would highly recommend this book and this author for anyone looking for cross genre “reads”.

INCREDIBLE!!!!!

i think this is the only book that made me feel nervous, smile, in love and scared all at the same time.. I want to experience all the feelings that's why I bought the audiobook, paperback and the kindle version, and while listening ti the audiobook I was reading it too, to add intensity.. I thought Verity was crazy and then I read and listened to Layla!

Different than what I am used, but loved it!!

I usually always read/listen to mystery, twists, suspense.. but this book was a good change! I LOVED Verity, so I thought I would give Layla a try. The narrator did a great job, really went well with the character and his voice is rather sexy LOL. I was really into the story from the beginning because who doesn't love a cute love story, or wish they could have something like it. I found myself talking back to the book when there were moments I didn't agree with lol. Overall, good listen and good book!

It was OK.

I’m surprised that this book was written by a woman. Throughout the book it felt like Leila and Willow’s thoughts and actions were coming from a man’s POV. Also, and this is a silly detail, the narrator exhaled through his nose at the end of most sentences as if he had the remains of a bad sinus infection or is a heavy smoker which was a little distracting at times. It’s the little things…

Romance story for men.

Being Male I like romance stories where the protagonist is Male. This story fits the bill plus it is not your typical murder mystery.

Interesting, solid ending

Struggled to make it through the middle of the book, the ending's worth it though

Meh

I thought the concept was a little weird.
Reading it I was cringing because it was a little far fetched to me. Ended up resenting Leeds the whole time. Lol it was a neat ending but I’m glad I read Verity first because if I read Layla before it, I probably wouldn’t have read it thinking it was cheesy like Layla. I mean I’d recommended it but not like I recommend verity.
