I want more

I just finished listening to this entire series and am disconsolate that this is the last book in the series, other than a collection of short stories. Sigh.

Now I want to play the game.

As this is the conclusion of the Temeraire series, my comments apply to all nine books.

This started out as a "High Concept": If dragons existed, and could be weaponized, how would this have altered history? This is explored through the partnership of one dragon, Temeraire, and his master, Will Laurence, late of His Majesty's Navy, during the Napoleonic wars.

But nothing is that simple. A whole tapestry has developed through the nine novels. The taxonomy of dragons is expanded to include other mythical creatures. Dragons are revealed to be intelligent beings, capable of reason and deserving of rights. Their use in war is explored, for they are living weapons.

Besides exploring issues of biological warfare, slavery, prisons, and international relations in a fantastic setting, these books also look at military strategy and tactics in great detail. Some historical battles occur as we know them, others are drastically altered The addition of aerial warfare causes tactics from much later periods to be introduced

I loved these books. There ought to be games. There's already fan fiction.

An Extremely Satisfying end to the series

League of Dragons, much like the rest of the Temeraire Series, is an extremely charming book. The narrator does a splendid job and brings each of the characters to life through his different approaches for each.

Fantastic Fiction

Smart, funny, politic - a fast paced 9 book series that I thoroughly enjoyed. I am sad that it has come to an end, and may need to listen to it again.
