Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Stephanie Garber’s limitless imagination takes flight once more in the colorful, mesmerizing, and immersive sequel to the best-selling breakout audiobook debut Caraval

A heart to protect. A debt to repay. A game to win.

After being swept up in the magical world of Caraval, Donatella Dragna has finally escaped her father and saved her sister, Scarlett, from a disastrous arranged marriage. The girls should be celebrating, but Tella isn’t yet free. She made a desperate bargain with a mysterious criminal, and what Tella owes him no one has ever been able to deliver: Caraval Master Legend’s true name.

The only chance of uncovering Legend’s identity is to win Caraval, so Tella throws herself into the legendary competition once more - and into the path of the murderous heir to the throne, a doomed love story, and a web of secrets...including her sister's. Caraval has always demanded bravery, cunning, and sacrifice. But now the game is asking for more. If Tella can’t fulfill her bargain and deliver Legend’s name, she’ll lose everything she cares about - maybe even her life. But if she wins, Legend and Caraval will be destroyed forever.

Welcome, welcome to Caraval...the games have only just begun.

Legendary

Caraval was the first audiobook I purchased. I loved it! It was sooo long ago tho that I was completely blindsided when I saw Legendary in the browse list. I immediately bought it nd delved right in.

This story revolves around Tella nd her "relationship" with Legend nd other players. The story picks up just after the party at the end of Caraval. Tella is determined to find her mother at any cost. The world is almost as breathtaking (in my mind) as it's predecessor, but I found myself being more captivated by the characters in this book.

As with Caraval, we are left open ended nd slightly unsatisfied, so once again, I sit nd wait, in anticipation, for the next installment. I almost don't want this to ever end. What a journey these books have been!

Good sequel

I think I like this one better than the first book but objectively the first is better I just realize I don’t like scarlet as much mainly from tella having a more similar approach to romance and things. I probably will read the last book just to get the full conclusion.

Anyway if you read the first I recommend the second book especially if you want more answers but you’ll have more questions too.

not terrible.

A decent follow up story. A bit too similar to the first but this was told from a Donatella point of view.

beautiful yet predictable

Beautiful descriptions, interesting characters, a good narrator. but an incredibly predictable story. made it quite boring after a while. no real climax that excited me because I knew what was going to happen.

Like A Painting, But For Your Ears

I am really, really enjoying this series and can't wait for the last book! Stephanie Garber describes Tella and Scarlett's world so beautifully, and listening to these books is like a mini escape to a world full of parties, magic, and beautiful dresses. There were enough twists and turns to keep the plot moving along nicely, and Rebecca Soler's narration is excellent.
This series reminds me a lot of The Night Circus in the best possible way, so if you enjoyed the Night Circus (and enjoy YA fiction), you may enjoy Legendary.

Great second story in series, but repetitive

We listened to this while driving across country. Great book to get us across Ontario. We were excited when it came out. As we loved Caraval. Both books are wonderfully descriptive. However, when listening to it consistently all the way through, it felt as if there was A LOT of recap...constantly. This got annoying. Very, very annoying. We didn’t remember this in the first novel, however we listened to that on multiple drives which were spread apart. Not so this time. Therefore 4 stars over 5.

We’ll still listen to the 3rd story.
