A masterpiece of the struggle with humanity

Wow. What an amazing and important piece of literature. I was sucked in so deep. I adored the readers voice. The detail the description it sends you back to another time. heart wrenching, brave, giving you layer after layer of human morals and thought processes. its a long one..but it is a MUST listen.

Worth the Listen

This is a very long book but it was definitely worth the listen. Despite taking place over 200 years ago, the issues written about are still relevant today. Hugo's use of imagery paints a vivid picture and the story keeps you engaged throughout. This is truly a masterpiece and it makes perfect sense why Hugo now rests in the Pantheon.

Skip the musical

The characters are more interesting and the long 19th century so much more alive in George Guidall's reading than either on the stage or in the screen.

A Great Example of Mercy and Redemption

probably only someone raised by an atheist and a devout Catholic could have come up with this brilliant argument for love and forgiveness

the greatest story ever told

It is of little surprise when a book is of a higher quality than that of its film adaptation which is why I decided to add this to my que despite my familiarity of the story.
it has been said of this book that it is "the greatest story ever told". Though I do not make such a claim myself I can hardly argue that it is lesser than any other story I know. It has even overthrown the Count of Monte Cristo in my mind as the best french novel of that period

Les Miserables

It kept me enthralled and absorbed throughout. Excellent diction and heartfelt expression on the part of the narrator.
