Publisher's Summary

Lies from the heart lead to a dangerously intimate case for Sheriff Bree Taggert in #1 Amazon Charts and Wall Street Journal bestselling author Melinda Leigh’s novel of revenge and fatal deceptions.

When a digital marketer is found murdered in his backyard—hands bound and face smothered by plastic wrap—Sheriff Bree Taggert and criminal investigator Matt Flynn respond to the call. Their investigation focuses on the man’s dating-app profile and the word liar carved into his forehead.

One day later, the killer strikes again.

Both victims are players in the internet dating scene. In their wake, they leave a trail of hurt—and angry—women. But Bree and Matt aren’t convinced the motive is as simple as it appears. Everyone they interview seems to be lying or hiding something.

As the list of suspects grows, the killer’s rage escalates, and he leaves a personal and deadly warning for Bree. They must act fast. Because someone Bree loves is targeted as the next to die.

What the critics say

“Scenes from the killer’s viewpoint heighten the suspense as Leigh keeps the reader guessing what’s going to happen next. Tight prose matches the well-drawn protagonists.”Publishers Weekly

“Read Lie to Her and the other books in Leigh’s series for these compelling murder mysteries. Appreciate the realistic characters who struggle with the same things we do—work-life balance, too many commitments, feelings of not doing enough, and self-doubt. Enjoy the rescue animals and the huge heart that the people here demonstrate by their actions.”—Bookreporter

Love love love Melinda Leigh

Great story line and you don’t know until almost the end who “dun it”! I think that I enjoy listening to the narrator more then I would reading the book!

LOVE MELINDA LEIGHS BOOKS

I have read several of this authors’ books now, and I find them very entertaining and suspenseful. I’m sure they could be made into a TV series. There are always so many twists and turns, leading you to believe you know who the suspect is, but you really don’t until the very end!!

Great Series

This is an excellent series, and I couldn’t put it down. Lie to Her is a well written story with some good twists and turns amidst the drama, and the romance between Bree and Matt only adds another terrific dimension to the story.

the plots are starting to weaken

I will give this author and the series one more chance... but honestly, the plots are getting weaker. what law enforcer do you know who happens to have their loved ones targeted one by one? if another person close to Bree Taggart ends up in legal jeopardy or attacked or involved in a murder that will be it. and the constant saying Bree flattened her hands on the table" is starting to drive me crazy. Who cares? why waste words on that when there is so much more you could write about.?

anyway... I did like book 1 and 2, but am not likely to follow this author of in the next book her friends and loved ones are targeted or somehow involved in terrible crimes.

Not bad

Not bad though not great. The saintly sherif is a little hard to swallow as is the tied up in a bow ending.

Bad narration

I don’t normally leave negative reviews but I am making an exception. She painfully over articulates every word. The volume of her voice is inconsistent. She practically shouts the first word of every paragraph slowly lowering her tone to a near whisper just to shout again. I really like this series but the narration is so bad.
