About this listen

As women, we have grown up to believe in stories that impact our abilities, desires, roles, and potential. Some of these stories are presented as "fairy tales" - myths we hear as small children that program our perspectives to determine whether we become a victim or a self-determined woman. From Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White, and Beauty and the Beast, we have learned lessons about men, money, and the dangers of other women. The other stories, or "lies" that women believe, influence how we behave, respond to others, and place value on ourselves in society and the workplace.

This audiobook contains 11 of the 14 chapters of the print book, Lies and Fairy Tales That Deny Women Happiness.

Jeanne Martinson, MA, is a best-selling Canadian author on the topics of inclusion and leadership.

Outdated

The Author's voice was hard to listen to. A professional voice actor or reader would've been better. The audio contained over dubs that were noticeable too. I was wondering when the content from the sample would be heard and had to listen to half of the content - which I had no interest in and found to be outdated - before getting to the good part.

The information needs updating to include modern stats and a more diverse and therefore inclusive perspective. The idea of the book was good but needs more work to develop.
