Sister Souljah
About this listen
Instant Number One New York Times Best Seller
Instant USA Today Best Seller
The long-anticipated sequel to Sister Souljah’s million copy New York Times best seller The Coldest Winter Ever.
Winter Santiaga hit time served. Still stunning, still pretty, still bold, still loves her father more than any man in the world, still got her hustle and high fashion flow. She’s eager to pay back her enemies, rebuild her father’s empire, reset his crown, and ultimately to snatch Midnight back into her life no matter which bitch had him while she was locked up. But Winter is not the only one with revenge on her mind. Simone, Winter’s young business partner and friend, is locked and loaded and Winter is her target. Will she blow Winter’s head off? Can Winter dodge the bullets? Or will at least one bullet blast Winter into another world? Either way Winter is fearless. Hell is the same as any hood and certainly the Brooklyn hood she grew up in. That’s what Winter thinks.
A heartwarming, heart-burning, passionate, sexual, comical, and completely original adventure is about to happen in real time - raw, shocking, soulful, and shameless. True fans won’t let Winter travel alone on this amazing journey.

With a sensibility that recalls her beloved screen characters, including Yvette, Queenie, Shug, and the iconic Cookie from Empire, yet is all Taraji, the screen actress writes of her families - the one she was born into and the one she created. She shares stories of her father, a Vietnam vet who was bowed but never broken by life's challenges, and of her mother, who survived violence both in the home and on DC's volatile streets. Here, too, she opens up about her experiences as a single mother.

Story
Who would imagine being friends with Eve - the woman who’s been held responsible for the fall of humanity (and cramps) for thousands of years? Certainly not Sarah Jakes Roberts. That is, not until Sarah discovered she is more like Eve than she cares to admit. Everyone faces trials, and everyone will mess up. But failure should not be the focus. Your focus should not be on who you were but rather the pursuit of who you can become.

What the critics say
"Long fully embodies Winter's brash and bold personality - a small thing like death isn't going to keep the Santiaga princess from claiming her rightful place in this world or the next." (AudioFile Magazine)

meh
If you read the first book, you will probably be disappointed. Sister Souljah went in a totally different direction with this sequel. I didn't really enjoy the storyline. It is very confusing and delves into really dark themes such as abortion, suicide, murder, etc. I am disappointed in this sequel. I finished it, but did so begrudgingly.

Amazing
This book was actually amazing. There were some parts in the middle which had me wondering the purpose of it, but trust that once you make it past those points it will all make sense. This should really be made into a movie. from The Coldest Winter ever to this point. To everyone who stopped reading half way through, give it a chance and keep going, push past those "crazy" parts and get to the end.

Snooze fast
I was very disappointed with this book I think it was a little too draggy. And then it started to get boring and then I was dreading listening to the rest of it but I finished it. The first book was so good but this one thumbs down.

I tried reading and listening to this book and it was still awful. Not even close to, "The Coldest Winter Ever".

Don't buy, rent, or listen to this book.
I cannot believe this is the book that Sister Souljah decided to follow up the coldest winter ever. That book itself was hard to get through, but this is torture. This book is filled with misogyny, homophobia, and Nation of Islam retortic. There should have been a disclaimer some where cautioning readers that this book can and will be seen as offensive. I only finished because of a commitment to my book club. And I would give it no stars if I could.
