About this listen

Probably the most challenging aspect of Ericksonian Hypnosis the wealth of linguistic techniques that he used to create ambiguity as a way of progressing in a therapeutic relationship. This concise audiobook is intended to rapidly introduce you to a selection of his most important linguistic techniques and help you master them. Note that Erickson used these techniques to create ambiguity so that he could help his patient transcend a stuck state. If you are familiar with Neuro-linguistic Programming, which is based to some degree on Erickson's techniques, these techniques are reframed as Meta-Patterns. NLP practitioners are trained to recognize the ambiguities and move their subjects toward clarity. However, NLP Meta-Patterns address the exact same concepts as Erickson's linguistic techniques.

Milton H. Erickson, M.D. was an American psychiatrist who pioneered several indirect or permissive hypnosis techniques. He also developed several naturalistic techniques using metaphors and stories. He is one of the two most important figures in the development of hypnosis and hypnotherapy in the 20th century. His techniques have been used in behavioral and medical applications.

This is book six of the Embracing Ambiguity: The Worlds of Ericksonian Hypnosis series.
