About this listen
When Miss Julia received a phone call from her attorney, she could have never in her wildest dreams imagined what he was about to tell her. She was in a will and she had been granted guardianship of two small children—her brother's grandchildren, two young girls. But her brother had been dead for thirty years.
How could these be his grandchildren? Even if they were, Miss Julia had lived a well-off life, being taken care of by a maid, for most of her life. How could she take care of two small young girls? She didn't know the first thing about childcare or how to be a “mother.”
But without Miss Julia, the children, who were of Indian genes, would have been sent to be made “white” at a nearby boarding school. So Miss Julia brought them back to her home in Landergin, Texas, which was on its way to becoming a ghost town. What happened next was unexpected. Miss Julia found that one of the girls had an unusual ability to bring solace, comfort and love to both Miss Julia and the dying town of Landergin.
Will the young girl be able to help Miss Julia move beyond her past, forget her pains, and live a happy life?
