Publisher's Summary

The works of Thomas Wolfe cemented his legacy as one of the very best of the American Southern writers. Wolfe's largely autobiographical novel features Eugene Gant, who pines for a more expansive life after being born to a father whose bouts of maniacal raving are fueled by a prodigious appetite for drink.

rambles on and pointless.

pointless rambling with no real story, hard to follow. after hours of listening I found myself questioning what was going on. does a good job of capturing the essence of the time and society.

No Point

enjoyed some of Wolfe 's soliloquy though there was often a great deal of pointless unnecessary rambling. the use of compound adjectives was often overdone. the point of the story is a mystery. good narrator.
