About this listen
A Marriage: Destroyed
They were a picture-perfect family - until a bitter divorce drove Darren Mack over the edge. A Reno millionaire, Mack was ordered by the court to pay his wife $10,000 a month in alimony. Instead, he stabbed her in the garage while their daughter watched TV upstairs.
A Judge: Targeted
The only person Mack hated more than his wife was the family court judge who presided over their divorce. So, after killing his wife, he loaded his gun and went after the judge...and headed for Mexico with a stash of concealed weapons.
A Killer: Wanted
So began an international manhunt for a rage-filled fugitive - featured on America's Most Wanted - that eventually ended in Mack's capture. In a dramatic trial, the public would learn shocking details of the swinging lifestyle that ended his marriage, the ugly divorce that fueled his anger, and the final straw that triggered his bloody spree.

Relatively "Routine" Crime
One wonders why John Glatt lent his considerable storytelling skills to this project. There is little doubt that Millionaire scumbag Darren Mack shocked the community when he murdered his estranged wife and shot the judge overseeing his divorce (and fleeing to Mexico).. but I could easily see nationwide attention for a day or two, headlines in Reno for a couple of weeks, and then obscurity. This kind of case happens at least once per year somewhere in America.
Glatt writes with admirable vocabulary/prose, displays great expository plotting, and demonstrates unsurpassed complete research (the case is explored exhaustively) - but I was never "blown away" by the crime(s).
To be certain, "average" reading from Shaun Grindell contributed to my "acceptable" assessment of the book, too. Mr. Grindell provides his typical professional narration.. but nothing that another reader couldn't have demonstrated.
In toto, this 'Plus' selection merits 5 stars out of 10. 'Love Her To Death' is a more than serviceable distraction if you can get it for free.. but better options beckon for your Credit if they ask for one.
