About this listen
Imagine waking up with a cough that just won’t go away. Concerned, you visit your doctor, who delivers the news: it’s stage-4 lung cancer, and there isn't anything they can do.
The biggest cancer killer worldwide today is lung cancer (more than all other cancers combined). Until lung cancer develops into the last stage, it's largely without symptoms. It is an unforgiving, silent killer. For those lucky enough to catch it early, surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiotherapy are the options. All of which may slow the progression of the disease but rarely cure it. For the vast majority, a lung cancer diagnosis is a death sentence.
Until now.
In “Lung Cancer Free” Dr. Lori Friesen and Keith Zafren share their journey from the shock of her husband’s initial diagnosis, through surgery and chemo, to the point where he was dying, being sustained on supplemental oxygen just to keep breathing, to where they are today: Keith is alive, breathing easily and freely with beautiful, healthy lungs.
He is completely cancer-free!
This book is a beacon of hope for those living with or affected by a lung cancer diagnosis. Grab it now and find out how this disease may not have to be a death sentence after all.

“Every time I look at Keith Zafren’s surveillance CT scan, I still remain amazed and in awe. For the first time ever, we can offer lung-limited stage-four lung cancer patients the hope of becoming cancer-free through our transplantation program (DREAM). This book tells the miraculous story.” (Young Kwang Chae, MD, MPH, MBA Lead Oncologist, Lung Transplant Team Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine)

Honest, Funny, and Hopeful
From the moment I began listening, I was captivated. It was so incredible to listen to the surgeon explain just how cutting edge and positive their Lungs in a Box was and how innovative ideas truly do become reality with the bravery of surgeons and patients together. All this just a little over a year ago! Lori's warm, inviting voice guides us along with safety yet honest about the struggles and reality of life that gets... well, lifey. Including humor into the journey really was quite something. Many tips and resources were sprinkled throughout the book, providing ease and confidence that I can use for myself and my loved ones alike, even without a cancer diagnosis. I haven't seen Lori since our early days
when we began our teaching careers, but the spunk, joy, and hope she spread back then are alive and well, now - even shining BG brighter and more hopeful and loving than ever. For anyone facing a cancer diagnosis and recovery, this book is for you. The sheer determination and love with which both Keith and Lori have in one another and in facing life's challenges, is sure to inspire all who read this book. Keep on laughing and loving, Keith and Lori! Thank you for sharing your journey and being a beacon of hope for all who face difficult times. xx Jennifer (Canada)
