In this dreamlike tale, Fred is visiting his grandfather when time suddenly stops. Setting out to discover why, Fred meets Maestro Orpheus and his magical lyre. Together they begin a musical adventure along the Corridor of Time, on their way to wind the World Clock.

Drawing on a broad range of classical music by composers from Bach and Haydn to Chopin and Strauss, Maestro Orpheus and the World Clock explores the intimate relationship between time, memory, and music in a way that is intended to delight and fill with wonder.

Epic performance, wonderful story.

This is the best performance of an audio book I've ever heard. The story and narration was perfect.

a wonderful look at music history for people of all ages

This is a story that I grew up listening to on cassette tape, then CD, and now digital. I have loved it all my life and it was a great introduction to classical music for children, though it is still enjoyable at all ages. My only critique, is that the Audible version will suddenly interrupt now and then with a very different speaker with a very different accent yelling “CHAPTER ONE”, “CHAPTER TWO”.. etc. It completely takes you out of a beautiful story and I wish they would remove that from the recording, as the chapters really don’t make any difference to the story. All in all, bar that issue, the story, recording, and overall performance are wonderful and I will continue to listen to this for many years to come. Highly recommended - just be prepared for the chapter announcements!
