About this listen
An alien-infested colony. A trapped platoon. The one man who will stop at nothing to lead his unit to safety.
Rade Galaal and his team of special operators are deployed to a colony under attack by a strange new alien race. Their mission: find the extraterrestrial base and destroy it.
The operation should be easy, given that his men pilot Brigand mechs: massive, 25-foot-tall war machines armed to the teeth with electrolasers, rockets, incendiary throwers, and more.
But it's not easy. Rade and his team soon find themselves in over their heads.
Surrounded by an entire world of enraged aliens, they must rely on their wits, their training, and their mechs to survive.
Because their only way out is each other.

Good but
I started with the argonauts series first and this seems a bit tame. If you like this earlier series you are going to love the other one. If you were like me, I’d only listen if you want more of the back story.

It's a very meh book
The world building is very weak, almost as if you're supposed to know these characters already.
Too much he said she said, and overall just a very weak pull.

Written by a young adult, probably.
This book is one of the worst books that I've experienced so far on audible. Thankfully it was free. The writing is so unbelievably cliche that I cannot for one moment escape what I'm doing and laps into my imagination. I only listened to the book for a total of 1 hour, but it seemed like all of the characters were just reused bland character archetypes with way too many crass jokes. It kind of seems like he went through a list of things that you have to add to your book to be able to be politically correct and just put them all in. The backstories of the characters when they did arise just seemed forced. The term multidimensional being is so insanely overused in lesser sci-fi books that it should be a tag that you can omit from your searches. I didn't read the rest of this guy's books, and based on my experience on one hour of this book, I'm gonna give the rest of his books a hard pass.
Don't let my review turn you off of possibly reading this book. But just know that if you're comparing it with something like Ender's game... That's the difference between Minions and Xenomorphs in terms of level of complexity of character design.
