The pursuit of heretics, the Inquisition, the Crusades, and the domination of the "Holy Land" come to mind. Yet the medieval world produced much that is part of our world today, including universities, the passion for Roman architecture and the emergence of the Gothic style, pilgrimage, the emergence of capitalism, and female saints. This new narrative history of medieval Christianity combines what is familiar and unfamiliar to modern audiences.

Elements of novelty in the book include a steady focus on the role of women in Christianity; the relationships among Christians, Jews, and Muslims; the experience of ordinary parishioners; the adventure of asceticism, devotion, and worship; and instruction through drama, architecture, and art. University Textbook Quality

Medieval Christianity by Kevin Madigan is an excellent Christian resource detailing exactly what the title claims. Kevin Madigan shares church history through the Medieval age introducing the reader to various matters, individuals and incidents that shaped Christianity. This text reveals a new perspective on key events during the period and is not a regurgitation of knowledge. I highly recommend this audio-book; at over 20 hours of information, the reader gets his/her value. This book is not for the easily bored - it is simply an analysis and lecture on the Medieval period which is interesting in itself. Medieval Christianity: A New History could be used as a university text the content is that meticulous.
