Publisher's Summary
My life as I know it is over.
And no, I'm not being dramatic. I've been living as a human, but now I have to return to my mermaid roots because my dad is the new king of Valora. As soon as we arrive, he sends me to the Dark Sea Academy. Whispers and glares greet me at every turn. Students accuse my dad of killing the previous king, his brother.
My first night, the most popular girl tries to kill me. I barely escape, only to run into Bash. He's older and one wrong move from being expelled. Also as gorgeous as he is arrogant. For some reason, he keeps looking at me with concern in his eyes while giving me a crooked smirk. Almost makes me forget all my problems.
But I can't let myself get side-tracked by him. I won't. If I'm to survive the academy, I need to focus on staying alive. Unfortunately, that means relying on Bash - and he's a distraction that could very well cost me everything.

The book has potential
I liked the start and the male love interest but the I just think the story could have been better if it took a different path. I also wasn’t a fan of the do I do this or that cliffhanger. I think of the start pushed her more towards the land and the greater conflict of it’s that is might have been more interesting. It was pretty predictable. I do really like the start of the book and Bash. I wish there was more land stuff though.

awful story decent narrator
the female protagonist os so dramatic and annoying the world setting is so nice and has great potential but the female protagonist just ruins it for me this might be better if you read it by book? the narrator was just spot on and since the female protagonist is annoying af it makes it worse
i don't recommend this maybe my middle school self who loves cringey over dramatic books wpuld lile this but definitely not the me now! DNF this book
