Publisher's Summary

The incredible story of how a schoolteacher built a million-dollar portfolio, and how you can too....

Most people wouldn't expect a schoolteacher to amass a million-dollar investment account. But Andrew Hallam did so, long before the typical retirement age. And now, with Millionaire Teacher, he wants to show you how to follow in his footsteps. With lively humor and the simple clarity you'd expect from a gifted educator, Hallam demonstrates how average people can build wealth in the stock market by shunning the investment products peddled by most financial advisors and avoiding the get-rich-quicker products concocted by an ever widening, self-serving industry.

Using low-cost index funds, coupled with a philosophy in line with the one that made Warren Buffett a multi-billionaire, Hallam guides readers to understand how the stock and bond markets really work, arming you with a psychological advantage for when markets fall.

  • Shows why young investors should hope for stock market crashes if they want to get rich.
  • Explains how you can spend just 60 minutes a year on your investments, never open a financial paper, avoid investment news, and still leave most professional investors in the dust.
  • Promotes a unique new investment methodology that combines low cost index funds and a Warren Buffett-esque investment philosophy.

Millionaire Teacher explains how any middle-income individual can learn can learn the ABCs of personal finance and become a multi-millionaire, from a schoolteacher who has been there and done that.

Great book with great explanations

They really broke things down and explained why to follow the different tactics and strategies and compared them to common tactics that the majority of people follow. If you do what everyone else does you’ll get the same results and this book explains how to use your money to work for you.

Informative but probly a better read as paperback

Pretty informative book with lots of sound advice on buying cars, saving money and investing wisely. There are lots of figures and tables though so might be a better read as a paperback so you can see those. A couple chapters did sound like advertisements for vanguard, but I'm still going to check them out. Overall I would recommend if you'rea novice to investing like myself..

Clear and simple advice that should be given in high school, but isn't. Great listen.

Great Information

Great information that I wish I’d known before. Sounds like an AI reader. All chart data narrated?

A Must-Read for Everyone! Canadians too!

What I find particularly exceptional about this book, is that it is not delivered in a preachy, or entitled manner. Instead, it is a deep dive into the finer points of intelligent investing told in an entirely relatable way. Think of a non-annoying expert sitting next to you on a long flight and having the ability to pick his brain on all things money!

My sister put me on to this book after she listened to it to be able to intelligently manage a new inheritance, and I have in turn recommended it to close friends and relatives. I urge anyone of any age to listen if you want to learn to become wealthy and well-protected in your investments

His clever injections of humour, and "Andrewisms" come along when you least expect it, but truly help drive the point he is making home while keeping it relatable and humorous at the same time.

What I most appreciated is that where possible, the author will reference the equivalent information for other countries with respect to the resources he dispenses that relate to the US stock market. Not only is this helpful if you are a listener from another country, but also serves his North American audience by providing valuable insight into tips in investment opportunities globally. With only a sole income to manage, I am particularly concerned on how to handle my money in the best way possible- This book is that answer for me.

I can't endorse this book enough, Thank you for arming me for hopefully a stronger financial outlook.

Excellent advice, a bit dry, but expected

This book does an excellent job of talking about the types of investments you should be looking at. as an audio book it can sometimes be hard to follow due to the technical aspects. although that is to be expected.
