About this listen
Sometimes moms see the never-ending laundry, dirty diapers, and skinned knees as relatively insignificant when compared to activities and callings that seem more important and lasting. But there is eternal value in even the most mundane moments if the great commission informs how we're thinking about all of life, including what it means to be a mom.
Tracing motherhood in the story of the Bible and drawing out key implications for moms today, Gloria Furman helps women live out God's story of redemption in their daily lives as they nurture their children and joyfully share the message of the Gospel with those around them.

Exactly what I needed, though it took me a while to realize it!
I had read reviews saying this book was just a reiteration of the Bible and not very practical, and I admit I was a little impatient when she was working through the entire Old Testament. BUT, in the days I’ve been listening to this, I’ve noticed my heart has been moved in new ways because of the “big picture” lessons Gloria drew out! I have found myself feeling the importance of caring for other believers, even hospitably welcoming them into my home when I might prefer not to, answering friends’ pleas for counsel over the phone when inconvenient with renewed compassion, and in moments of overwhelm with others’ plus my children’s needs, running to the cross and there finding His strength to nurture life in the face of death. The “big picture” lessons didn’t need a laundry list of applications—as they settled into my heart they are already showing themselves in the exact applications I need in my context. This flies in the face of my desire to feel productive by hearing about new parenting techniques to try out...this is actually addressing the heart of motherhood, which is what I now understand I needed. Thank you Gloria!
