About this listen
Morse Code Mysteries and Missives includes three stories, each one of which is first presented in the audio dots and dashes of Morse Code, then read by voice actor Bruce Pilkenton. The purpose of this book is not to teach you Morse Code; it is to let those who have basic coding skills and experience with Morse Code practice on something more interesting than short phrases, kid’s books, and dry practice manuals. The software by which many listen to the audio dots and dashes permits adjustment of the speed of transmission, generally at specifed increments from half to twice the default speed.
The materials include two stories written by Donald J. Bingle (Stress Fracture and Dashed Hopes), as well as a relevant piece of non-fiction of historical interest. This book makes a great gift for ham radio and CW enthusiasts and current or former members of the military, signal corps, and merchant marine, as well as Boy Scouts, history buffs (including those interest in the voyage and sinking of the Titanic), puzzle enthusiasts, preppers, and fans of cryptography and decoding.
Reviews are welcomed and especially encouraged for those who would like to see more Morse Code stories published and made available via audio files.
Donald J. Bingle is the author of nine books, including the Dick Thornby Thriller series (Net Impact; Wet Work; and Flash Drive), and more than 70 shorter works in a wide variety of genres. Follow him on social media @donaldjbingle or his website at donaldjbingle.com.
