About this listen

Amelia Willoughby has been engaged to the Duke of Wyndham for as long as she can remember. Literally. A mere six months old when the contracts were signed, she has spent the rest of her life waiting. And waiting. And waiting . . . for Thomas Cavendish, the oh-so-lofty duke, to finally get around to marrying her. But as she watches him from afar, she has a sneaking suspicion that he never thinks about her at all . . .

It's true. He doesn't. Thomas rather likes having a fiancée—all the better to keep the husband-hunters at bay—and he does intend to marry her . . . eventually. But just when he begins to realize that his bride might be something more than convenient, Thomas's world is rocked by the arrival of his long-lost cousin, who may or may not be the true Duke of Wyndham. And if Thomas is not the duke, then he's not engaged to Amelia. Which is the cruelest joke of all, because this arrogant and illustrious duke has made the mistake of falling in love . . . with his own fiancée!

Featured Article: The Bridgertons Audiobooks in Chronological Order

In a fictional Regency-era London, the Bridgerton and the Featherington families depend on the marriages of their many children. Bridgertons has won over the hearts of millions, and Julia Quinn has likened the series to "a Cinderella story." Shonda Rhimes adapted the series of romance novels into the hugely popular Bridgerton Netflix series. Although a different character inspires each volume of the series, it’s best to enjoy the saga chronologically.

Love the ending!

Would have been curious to see this series as one book but the ending was brilliant and a lovely surprise. One of my favourite authors and narrators. ( : I’ve enjoyed her other books when multiple stories have surprisingly overlapped in the same setting and scene (a la Smythe Smith musicale) and these two books extend on that idea and are an interesting experiment in point of view. I fell in love with the characters and it left me with a glow.

Both books are great!

I really enjoyed both books in the series. I often wish I could see a scene from another perspective and this series was excellent for that. That said, if you are not someone who enjoys reading the same scene twice, it might not be for you. I saw a different reviewer suggest reading them the other way around but I don't agree. The other one is frothier and more fun but I think you care more about the characters if you read it first...and that makes this ending all the more satisfying. I love that the heroine isn't as quick on her feet as some of the other heroines until she starts making decisions for herself and I love that the hero is flawed...but not in an "only she can save me" kind of way.

You owe me a book

Tsk, tsk. Not well done Julia, not well done. This is book one with a handful of paragraphs rewritten. Fire whomever sold you on the idea.

Narration is fabulous as always. Great job Rosalyn

Julia, were you at least a little ashamed to release this as book two.

Such a waste of time

So disappointed in Julia Quinn on this one. She's a fantastic writer and this book felt like a quick easy money grab. It's literally the same story as book one but from another characters perspective. There were so many scenes that I expected this book to quickly move past since we already know everything that's going to happen, because we were literally just here in book one but no. She played the entire scene out AGAIN which obviously ended in the SAME RESULT! I was so frustrated by this. what a terrible excuse for a second book! Don't waste your credits or money on this one. most of this book is the same as book one only its more focused on Thomas and Amilia and they're "love story" which isn't even much of one because of how much it overlaps into book one with Grace's love story. So so soooooo disappointing.

Blah.

Just horrible. Amelia was pathetic and had no depth for the entire story. Thomas was not lovable and it was just a horrible story all the way around. “Happy” ending didn’t bring any joy whatsoever. I was just glad that the story was finally over and I’m not going to bother listening to its partner. Just horrible.
