About this listen
Downton Abbey meets Agatha Christie with a touch of Wodehouse and a dog of distinction.
It's 1920 and Christmas is coming. Major Lennox finds a body on his doorstep—why on his doorstep? Was it to do with the Countess? Was it about the ruby necklace? Lennox goes to Melrose Court home to his uncle, Lord Melrose, to uncover the mystery. But then the murders begin and it snows and it all becomes very complicated....
Major Heathcliff Lenno, ex WW1 war pilot, 6feet 3inch, tousled dark blond hair, age around 30—named after the hero of Wuthering Heights by his romantically minded mother—much to his great annoyance. Murder at Melrose Court is the first book in the Lennox series—Book 2, The Black Cat Murders is number 2 in the series. Follow Karen Menuhin for more news.

Nice change of drama
This is the first book in a series of what looks like cozy country mysteries . I find this type of writing calming and a pleasant change from the more in depth violence in a lot of todays mystery books.I also
enjoyed the narrators performance very much.
I look forward to more Karen Menuhin books in future.

A great cozy mystery
I don’t usually read mysteries, but I really enjoyed this one. Looking forward to reading the second book in the series.

Funny British murder mystery
Performance and storyline are well done. Very funny, with main character appearing to be an upper class idiot, but actually having decent intellectual ability. Cozy type mystery but does not take itself too seriously and no tiresome food/bookstore/bakery/animal theme.

Will be returning this book
The last few chapters were the best part of this book. The story itself was very improbable. I lost patience with the main character early on and then after the first few painful chapters used the fast forward button to get through the rest. I bought this based on previous reviews whose opinion I unfortunately don’t share.
