Publisher's Summary
New York Times best-selling author Eloisa James returns to the Wildes series with a prequel about the Wilde children's parents, Hugo, duke of Lindow, and Ophelia, Lady Astley.
Every duke needs a duchess....
Hugo Wilde, the duke of Lindow, has a drafty castle, eight naughty children - and no wife. Ophelia, Lady Astley, has a fine house, one well-behaved daughter - and no husband. Hugo takes one look at Ophelia and loses his heart, but she doesn’t want more children or a castle. She takes one look at him and heads for her carriage. Desperate to find a duchess, Hugo identifies an appropriate lady to woo. Yet when he meets Ophelia again, the duke realizes that he will marry her or no one.
Now he faces the greatest challenge of his life. He must convince Ophelia that their blazing sensuality, his exquisite castle, and his eight charming children add up to a match made in heaven.
When duke finds his duchess, can he win her heart?

Welcome to a world of reckless sensuality and glittering sophistication, of dangerously handsome gentlemen and young ladies longing to gain a title, of games played for high stakes, including - on occasion - a lady's virtue. A marquess's sheltered only daughter, Lady Roberta St. Giles, falls in love with a man she glimpses across a crowded ballroom: a duke, a game player of consummate skill, a notorious rakehell who shows no interest in marriage, until he lays eyes on Roberta.

Outstanding
Outstanding read that will stay with you, and keep popping into your mind long after you read. Hugo Wilde, the Duke of Lindow, is a wonderful character, the quintessential hero in a historical romance novel. Ophelia, Lady Astley, is also a wonderful character. She is strong and caring, and as her friend calls her - "unnatural", because she mothers her daughter, instead of having a nanny. This is a prequel to the Wildes of Lindow series, so very interesting to see many of the characters in the series as children. If you have not read any of this series, then obviously a good start, and yes you should read the rest of the series. I "read" the audiobook and enjoyed Susan Duerden as a narrator and highly recommend this version.

A quick read! Worth the read!
I found it a pretty quick condensed regency romance. Everything was in there but something about how quickly he and she ‘fell’ into love was a bit off for me. But it was a good story and I recommend the read!
