About this listen

Kate Bishop is in a world of trouble. In the wake of several inexplicable and brutal murders, Kate is thrust into a police inquiry that reveals shocking family secrets. Suddenly exposed to a shadowy network of global evil, her life takes a dramatic turn with the arrival of Jack Raines, an author with a mysterious past who says he has the answers to her questions. What's more, he suggests that Kate herself might be the solution.

But hot on their heels are a force of superpredators, vicious and bloodthirsty killers who will stop at nothing until Kate and Jack are eliminated. Like Jack, they've realized just how special Kate is, and now she's marked for death.

An explosive mix of action and suspense, Nest is a landmark new novel from worldwide best-selling author Terry Goodkind and a complete reinvention of the paranormal thriller. Travel with Goodkind on a dangerous journey to the back alleys of the darknet, to the darkest corners of our minds, and to the very origins of what it is to be human, a place few have ventured to and fewer still have survived.

Compelling and creative

The story is a mix of high stakes crime thriller, fantasy-like elements and techno-philosopher. It drags in one spot as it labours to explain intricacies that could be avoided. It does not meet the high bar of The Void trilogy. but is a solid listen with lots of action and suspense.

Not sure about the narrator. Often presented as an excitable teenager which the character does not fit. But for the most part she did a passable job. Certainly not "bad" just not above average. A weaker story may have suffered fatally but in this case it all comes out as a worthwhile use of listening time.

A thriller worth the your time.

Terry Goodkind has done it again. He's drawn me into a genre that has never interested me before. Terry's writing draws you in and keeps your interest.
When you read Nest you can't help but feel apart of the story following Kate's life struggles. Hoping that things would go her way and all would be alright. You will feel the suspense as the story progresses.
Well done Mr Goodkind.

Pleasantly Suprised

I saw another review somewhere say they were pleasantly surprised that this book made them enjoy a genre they don't normally like. I feel the same. It dragged a little, or was just strange at the beginning. It picks up quickly, with great action about mid way & to the end. Some people don't like Terry's writing style, but I definitely do & his creativity makes up for any shortcomings.

Not the thrill I was hoping for

This was not as exciting as I had hoped and kind of cheesy and predictable

Too repetitive

The author explains the same thing over and over. it's as if he is trying to meet a word count. the storyline itself was not bad, just not well written
