About this listen
Cadence "Cady" Bloomquist knows two things for sure: First, shelving books at her shop, Nevermore Bookstore, totally counts as cardio. Second, staying late every Thursday night to take a certain mysterious customer's order is not the same as waiting by the phone for some man. Until the calls with the man who identifies himself only as "Fox" last for hours, and become the highlight of her week. Which leaves her to wonder, if his velvet voice can kindle her fire over the phone, what sort of alchemy might it inspire if they met in person?
There's nothing Roman Fawkes wants more than the brilliant, beautiful bookstore owner, but he knows it can never happen. Secreted in his mountain hideaway above sleepy Townsend Harbor, his hermit's existence shields him—and those around him—from the pain of his past. Until one of their weekly calls is interrupted by a break-in, and Fawkes is powerless to protect the woman who has become his one link to the world. Orchestrating a trap for the fool who dared harm her, Fawkes finds himself not just ensnared, but beguiled by her. Now so close to Cady, he discovers she's fallen for "Fox", and yet he's unable to reveal her heart's desire is closer than she thinks. Can Fawkes resist the temptation to get between Cady's covers, knowing they'll never have a happily ever after?
Contains mature themes.

Beautiful, funny, and swoon-worthy.
What a wonderful small-town romance. Both MC ‘s live with deep pain, one physically and the other psychologically. Their relationships are skillfully drawn and the development of their romance is so painfully beautiful. Loved this story so much.

I’m a book snob & I *loved* this!
Super adorable characters, relatable plot & conflicts. Setting was delightful, I’m just about to download the next book in the series. I love Teddy Hamilton as a MMC & Stella’s narration was SO good! It really brought the book to life (:

Fun story and great characters. Worth the listen
This book had everything I love in a great romance—chemistry, depth, and just the right amount of spice! The plot moved at a perfect pace, keeping me engaged from start to finish. The MMC and FMC had incredible chemistry, and their journey from friends to lovers was both sweet and steamy.
I really appreciated how real the characters felt. The MMC’s struggles with PTSD from his time in the military added emotional depth, while the FMC’s physical limitations made her even more relatable and strong in her own right. Their dynamic—especially with the grumpy/sunshine trope—was so fun to read, and I loved every interaction between them. And the spicy was medium spicy.
The supporting characters were fantastic, bringing humor and heart to the story without overshadowing the main couple. I genuinely laughed out loud multiple times!
Both narrators were amazing! They brought so much emotion and personality to the characters, making the story even more immersive.
If you love romance with real, flawed characters, laugh-out-loud moments, and a perfect balance of sweetness and heat, this book is for you.
5 stars all the way!

The plot was engaging but the story fell apart—characters were unsettling. “Fox” was creepy AF,
I recently attempted to listen to the audiobook “Nevermore Bookstore” but found it disappointing. The plot felt disjointed and lacked coherence, making it difficult to stay engaged. Additionally, the narrator’s portrayal of Fox came across as unsettling, which further detracted from the experience. Ultimately, I couldn’t finish it.
