About this listen
Can the road to the top take you on a path to love?
After 10 years abroad, Alexandra "Ali" Lennox's father asks her to move back to Los Angeles to head the family company, Lennox Breweries.
The company's COO, Jill Gold, has dedicated 20 years of her life to Lennox Breweries and is not amused when she's asked to mentor Ali, who she considers to be nothing more than a privileged trust-fund brat. Even though they don't see eye to eye, Ali and Jill will have to learn to trust each other for the sake of the company - and each other.
Can Jill change her mind about Ali's smug entitlement? And will Ali be able to come to terms with the past hurt that drove her away from LA in the first place?
Contains mature themes.

Good but
I'm not one for large age gaps, not that they're bad but just a personal reference. One half of the narration isn't very good in my opinion which takes away from the story. But if you're into age gaps, this one is for you.

Great storyline - no chemistry
A decent story, but the character voice of Jill
was ill fitting. Killed the chemistry of what could have been a decent romance :(

Hot
I enjoyed this. The poignancy of their emotional connection worked for me. I have a thing for mischievious women so I really liked Ali, especially because she also had a vulnerable side without being a pushover. I liked Jill too, just not as much, although the narration didn't help on that front. Tanya Eby can be a bit... robotic. It works really well if the sense of humour is very dry and sometimes sarcastic, but not as much here as in the first book I listened to which she narrated. Melissa Moran was a great narrator here and I will look for her work again.
Note on the age gap mentioned in the review: the younger love interest, Ali, is 35. To each their own, but once both parties are over about 30 I could care less about age gaps, especially since at 53 Jill is hardly a senior citizen. I just thought I would mention it because I almost didn't read it expecting a heroine in their late teens or early 20s to be paired with someone in their mid 40s or older and that I usually wouldn't like because it often comes with unbalanced power dynamics. I didn't feel like that was an issue here.
