About this listen

New York Times best-selling author David Baldacci returns with his next thriller featuring military investigator John Puller.

John Puller's mother disappeared nearly 30 years ago. Despite an intensive search and investigation, she was never seen again. But new allegations have come to light suggesting that Puller's father - now suffering from dementia and living in a VA hospital - may have murdered his wife.

Puller is officially barred from working on the case and faces a potential court-martial if he disobeys the order, but he knows he can't sit this investigation out. When intelligence operative Veronica Knox turns up, Puller realizes that there is far more to this case than he had originally thought. Puller will stop at nothing to discover the truth about what happened to his mother...even if it means proving that his father is a killer.

Excellent 4th Puller novel

I loved the Jihn Puller series! As for the audible performance, though he did a good job, it was disconcerting that they used a different narrator for the final book. The narrator brings the story to life and helps form the characters nuances that make them familiar to us over the course of the series. Changing narrators, especially for the final book, was a disconnect for listeners. It was no longer the same John Puller. The story and performance were good, but lost a lot of the connection I had to the characters.

The scene it the water was all wrong. once the water filled up the cabin. the water pressure would have equalized and the door could be opened easly.

Another great addition to the series!

A lot of people didn’t like the change of narration of this fourth book, but I didn’t mind. It still held the same tones and general John Puller voice.
Plenty of action and plot twists that keep you engaged and wanting to know more. As always Baldacci use of strong female leads and characters keeps me enticed in what would normally be a male dominated series about the military and it’s inner workings.
