About this listen

Lia Cassidy has left the army scarred physically and emotionally after a vicious attack by two fellow soldiers. Seeking a new start, she finds a rewarding job working with needy children at the Delos Charity School in Costa Rica. But her life turns upside down again when local drug lord La Arana burns down the school and pursues Lia as a witness. Terrified and on the run, she discovers there is only one man she can trust - Cav Jordan, the ex-SEAL Delos sends to protect her.

Cav Jordan is strong, honorable, and gorgeous...and intrigued by Lia. He knows she has suffered pain in her past, and he is determined to break through her barriers and earn her trust. But as Cav slowly chips away at the walls Lia has built, ghosts from her past threaten to destroy their fragile relationship.

Series has an identity crisis

I've now listened to over half the series. Even though it's called Delos, the Delos connection in some of the books is limited. Because of the military aspects to the books , you expect high tension filled stories. That's not really the case. It also seemed that the author often forgot the story line of who she was writing about. ex. 2 characters who often struggled with understanding each other , suddenly where being described as having "always" having deep understanding of each other. From 1 chapter to the next it seemed there was contradicting information. 1 other thing I found odd was considering the love and protection of kids through the series. The main characters often described their lovers as child like or how young they appeared. it just gave off a weird vibe at times. The series definitely touches on tough topics & it's nice to see PTSD being spoken about.
