About this listen

Quinn

I thought pulling my pack away from Winsford would save us. I never realized how wrong I could be.

After Rowan and I escape Mercer’s hold, we have to get the pack somewhere safe, but my only option is a pride run by a controlling alpha. With everyone safely inside the walls of Winterhaven, Rowan and I attempt to search for the truth, but we’re being hunted and driven further from the answers we need. I want to do everything to protect my mate, but as I learn more about his past, I realize that I might need to protect him from more than just Mercer.

Rowan

I never thought I could embrace this other side of me, especially when I’ve always been taught to hate it.

But Quinn makes me feel alive and happier than I ever thought I’d be after shutting away a part of myself for years. When he’s with me, I feel like we can accomplish anything, and figuring out why Mercer is targeting us is only the first step. However, we could lose everything if we make a single mistake. One thing I know about my mate, though, is that he’s the most determined man I’ve ever met. And I’ll be right by his side as we bring Mercer crashing to the ground.

Of Betrayal and Monsters is an action-filled romance with a dash of comedy. It’s the second book in a series with a continuing storyline and an HFN.

Soo good

Alice is a master wordsmith. Her use of snark and comedy is second to none. And Greg brings it all to life with his colourful portrayal of the characters.

This book follows the adventures or Miss adventures of Quinn, Rowan and the gang as they travel to an old pack that Quinn and Graham used to be part of. Things are not as perfect as they seem in Apollo’s pack. There is a lot of twists and turns during this book of which I will not give away. What I will say is that Ari may steal the show in a quite a few scenes ( but he’s adorable so it’s understandable)!

Strong 4 stars… Maybe even 4.5 stars…

Greg Boudreaux does such an amazing job with Alice Winters’ books. I am in love with his voice.

After being driven away from their village, Quinn and his pack have no other choice but to go to Apollo's lands because they need his protection. We could see from the very start how wary Quinn was of Apollo, but he knows that it's the only way to keep his pack safe from the monsters chasing them, and it's only for a week or two anyway... Quinn will soon realize though that he might have made a huge mistake as things get even more weird, complicated, and dangerous when they start living at Apollo’s compound.

The pace and the plot are good and this is a very engaging book, but some little pieces didn’t totally add up and they were just forgotten or the author just dropped them in the end. Overall though, it’s as good as the first book, but it has a different vibe. It focuses more on the pack trying to figure out how to evade Mercer and his crazy shifters instead of focusing on Rowan coming to terms with his shifter side and trying to figure out what is happening around him.

Apollo is an ass. He wants total control over his pride, and he even prevents them from being in relationships so they can focus all their attention, love, and devotion on him. He's a complete jerk, but at the same time, I was suspecting that there was more to him. It just seemed too easy and un-original to write him off as a jerk alpha with no redeeming quality, and no motivation in life besides having people bow to him and serve him. There were a few twists in this book, but sadly I anticipated most of them. The book was still very enjoyable despite that, and it's a quick read too, so if you enjoyed the first book of the series, you will surely love this one too.
