About this listen
Well-read, observant, and spirited, a young Elizabeth Bennet draws the attention of a wealthy widower. When she finally meets Mr. Darcy, she outranks him. Of course, that doesn't stop him from insulting her. Married and wealthy, is she still beneath his notice?
Elizabeth's high society connections create new opportunities for her sisters and, in turn, keep Darcy close to her family. When tragedy strikes, will Darcy rise to the occasion? Or will his propensity to give offense show no respect for rank?

Fantastic narration, engaging story
Stevie Zimmerman is truly an excellent narrator and has my favourite Darcy voice. She does not disappoint with On Equal Ground.
The story itself is as the blurbs describe and it is well-executed and engaging. I particularly liked how some of the characters come out - such as Mr Bennet and Caroline (very amusing) - and Robert was a fantastic original character. The plot is not one I entirely favour, so as engaging as this take on it was, it kept me from giving the story a 5/5. I don’t mind when one or both of them have a previous relationship and it was very interesting to see Elizabeth in her role as Robert’s wife, but they are not my favourite type of Austen variations. I wanted more Darcy and Elizabeth, too.
I will certainly read more of Elizabeth Adams’ works and would encourage fans of this genre to give this one a read, too.
