Publisher's Summary
Arthur MacDonald, 85, is having an end-of-life crisis. His beloved, dying wife of over 60 years no longer knows who he is. His older brother still has all his hair and a wife almost half his age. The man his middle-aged daughter is dating has a ponytail.
His teenaged grandson wants to cook desserts for a living. And his daughter wants him to move into Silvermine retirement home. Then Arthur meets the gorgeous, radical, 80-something-year-old Robbie and learns that nobody is ever too old to fall in love all over again.

Beautiful
Wow! What a lovely, heart-warming book. The narrator was brilliant. I laughed out loud, cried, and thought deeply about life, death, and all the older people I know. It's always fun to challenge a new perspective and this book really delivered on that. Highly recommend!

Celebrating a life well lived
Loved this audiobook; it was not at all what I was expecting and that in itself was wonderful. A beautiful depiction of the "average" human, nearing the end of his life and still learning who he was and how he was. And some fabulous senior characters who proved that age doesn't make one boring.

Struck a chord!
It is so unusual to read a book from the perspective of an old old senior and the subsequent agism that runs rampant in our 1st world societies. It struck a chord with me as a young senior having watched my mother rail against moving into a retirement home and eventually disappear with dementia. In this novel I revealed at seeing these "olsies" take back their power. It is well narrated, well written and surprisingly easy, even fun, to listen to, even though Dovey tackles a difficult subject.

Somewhat boring
I felt overall that there was something lacking in the overall narrative. None of the characters drew me in. The grandpa/grandson relationship was the only exception. It seemed to be the only relationship that was developed with any depth, such as it was. The rest of the story lacked any lustre and I spent the last half of the novel listening at 1.3 just to get it over with. And it wasn’t because of the subject matter. It was just empty, devoid of emotion for the most part. Definitely not as described in the audible library.
Narrator was ok.
