Publisher's Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Nobody remembers how the Causality War started. Really, there's no-one to remember and nothing for them to remember if there were; that's sort of the point. We were time warriors and we broke time.

I was the one who ended it. Ended the fighting, tidied up the damage as much as I could.

Then I came here, to the end of it all, and gave myself a mission: to never let it happen again.

great little time war story

This is awesome. The story concept is totally unique to anything I've ever experienced or heard of before. It's an interesting take on the idea of time travel. I loved how my opinion of the main character as a villain or hero kept changing throughout the story and how it really makes you wonder if that distinction even matters on a long enough timeline within a big enough picture.
Adrian Tchaikovsky brings unexpected resonance to his narration of his own story. He does a very good job and is already easily in the top five narrators I've heard.
If you enjoy the elements of sci-fi, time travel, and moral greyness this is probably worth the time. It definitely was for me.
It is not a heavy morality thing either. The fun of going back in time to hang out with historical figures is let loose, and there is a great cynical sardonic humour throughout that made me laugh out loud a few times.
