About this listen
Curtis "Launchpad" Larkin's career as an astronaut has had its share of ups and downs.
Alternately lauded as the single-handed savior of NASA and condemned as a reckless, hot-headed bully, Curt has been through the wringer of public opinion and come out on top. When he embarks on his final mission with NASA, Curt figures there's no curveball that life has left to throw him.
But when the role of spacecraft communicator is passed to a young engineer back in Houston who he's never met, Curt's mission takes on a new trajectory.
Patrick Harte's life is turned upside down when he's called to fill in at mission control, working directly under his hero, Curtis Larkin.
Falling for Curt is just a small step for Patrick - but it's one giant leap to think that the astronaut could ever return his feelings.
After Curt connects with Patrick from worlds away, he can't imagine life on earth without the other man...Despite the fact that he's never laid eyes on Patrick. And their problems won't stop once he's cleared for landing.
The bad-boy astronaut is no stranger to controversy - but will the genuine and soft-spoken man of his dreams be able to keep up with the trouble Curt seems to stir everywhere he goes?

Awesome story, perfect narration
Really enjoyed this. It's one of those books that I'm so glad I decided to pick up on audio rather than just read; Tremblay is an amazing narrator and was especially perfect for this story, I thought. It was easy to distinguish the characters during dialogue (and this is understandably and enjoyably quite dialogue-heavy) without any accents being too dramatic. It was natural and easy to listen to while still being investing.
The story, I thought, was well-executed. Curt and Patrick get some really natural, albeit slow, relationship development, and I found the plot to be interesting in the meantime. There were some slow moments, and some annoying ones (something something Wolf), but it really was the audio that helped me along. It just made the characters feel so real, and had me more invested.
Definitely recommend the audiobook. Really enjoyable, low-angst read with a lot of great representation. Be prepared for a slow burn, but their eventual getting together makes it worth it.

One Giant Leap
Kay Simone’s story includes an older astronaut off on his latest flight and a younger NASA engineer who takes over communication command when the usual employee gets sick. During space travel, Curt and Patrick develop a relationship that gives both of them new purpose. Due both to author and narrator, I chose to listen to her other book out on Audible.
