So much value
I got so much value from listening to this book. I crushed it in 2 days and had lots of ’AH HA’ moments, and even revisited ch 13 on values and qualities coz that was one of the exercises I wanted to put in the work on. I really like how she talked about not having expectations, too, so everyone including ourselves can show up as their full self and we can be present. I also appreciated that although there were so many opportunities to pause and do the work in the book (pull out your journal), I didnt feel obligated to do it all, just the ones I felt pulled to do since she encourages just doing just that. It was still enjoyable to listen to without pausing to pull out the journal whike I was painting. Very thoughtfully put together, I know it’s one I will come back to again and again. Thanks Melissa!

There's something about Melissa Ambrosini...
I got 'Mastering Your Mean Girl' and and at first, I didn't get into it because I found it to be along the lines of fluffy self help that isn't practicable and is mainly just "tell yourself you're beautiful". I've always preferred books more akin to The Subtle Art of Not giving a F*CK. However...Melissa has a way of grabbing my attention and making me feel empowered. Some of her style isn't quite mine, but I loved both Mastering Your Mean Girl' and this book. Open Wide really surprised me. it was much more than a book about romance. It's about finding love everywhere and understanding yourself and others. I found it entertaining, useful and easy to apply. I also love Melissa's Aussie accent and her enthusiasm for her content...even if she sometimes references things like 'activated nut cheese' and organic cinnamon sticks as metaphors. 😂 She's a lovely woman nevertheless!

Bit of a Let Down
I was so excited to listen to Open Wide as I absolutely loved Melissa's first book, Mastering Your Mean Girl. Unfortunately, this book totally missed the mark for me.
At some points, it was hard not to cringe while Melissa goes into depth about mundane tasks and spends 15-20 minutes talking about things such as how to send invitations to a party. It felt like I was listening to a 10-hour blog post written by someone who just took a bunch of ideas from around the web and stuck them in once place and added a bit of sparkle and personality.
I did not feel like Melissa was relatable and it was not easy to connect with her story as it was with her first book.
While there were a couple of bits of good advice that totally resonated with me, and I absolutely admire and respect Melissa, overall the bad outweighed the good I got from this book.
