About this listen

Someone is spreading rumors around Deadwood that Violet Parker likes to chat with dead folks.

With her reputation endangered, her bank account on the verge of extinction, and her career at risk of going up in flames, Violet is desperate. When the opportunity to sell another vintage home materializes, she grabs it, even though this "haunted" house was recently the stage for a two-act murder-suicide tragedy.

Ghost or no ghost, Violet knows this can't be as bad as the last house of horrors she tried to sell, but sexy Doc Nyce has serious doubts. Her only hope of hanging on to her job is to prove that the so-called ghostly sightings are merely the eccentric owner's optical delusions.

But someone - or something - in the house wants Violet stopped…dead.

wonderful

I love the Deadwood stories. Violet, Doc and Harvey are my favorite characters. Waiting for Ray to fall off his mountain.
I read the Deadwood Undertaker series. That is by far my very favorite. Would really love more of those as well.

Great narration

I’m really enjoying this series. It’s light, consistently funny, and entertaining.

The narrator does a great job of rendering the different voices and characters.

Ok

The storyline is good but I don’t like the main character. The constant descriptions of people’s eyebrows, lips, teeth, jaw etc to everything she says is repetitive.

Not worth continuing

This is book 2 of the Deadwood series. Well some of the writing is amusing, the lead character is super annoying and the woman that every man wants to sleep with.
Her misogynistic coworker‘s behaviour is somehow OK with the boss. Doc’s treatment of her is controlling and condescending. When she finally stands up to him, she wants to apologize because her blood sugar was low? And in what world do clients tell their female real estate agents to wear a skirt?
She’s not a very good friend to her best friend Natalie either. She lets her prattle on about Doc and not saying a thing to her about how she feels. What kind of friend is that?

The way she lets men treat her is disappointing. I thought it was a fun premise but I just couldn’t continue reading.

Too much Doc

Entertaining storyline but too much Doc talk. You start getting into the story then you have to go through all the same old same old Doc talk. Their relationship becomes boring and I found I just fast forwarded it when it came to them. Otherwise I enjoyed it.
