Publisher's Summary
*The definitive biography of King Charles III, by Sunday Times bestselling author Robert Jobson, published on the eve of the Coronation*
'To Charles, being monarch has nothing to do with power - he believes his role is to lead. It is up to others whether they choose to follow.'
When Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II died in September 2022, it sent shockwaves around the world. The longest reigning and oldest monarch, at ninety-six years of age, she had just publicly celebrated her Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. The Queen's death meant the passing of the Crown to her son, HRH Charles, Prince of Wales, her controversial, earnest, and outspoken heir, who had long lived in the shadow of her mystique.
King Charles III's own life has been marred by scandal and myth, but who is the real man behind the Crown? In this revelatory book, renowned royal correspondent and author Robert Jobson examines the life of our new King, and his passions, purpose, and motivations. On the eve of his landmark coronation, Our King considers the life of the man and the monarch, reflecting on how his values and beliefs will shape him as he takes on this monumental role.

Exploring well beyond the banal newspaper headlines that have caricatured Charles over the years, the book debunks the myths about the man who will be King, telling his full, true story; exploring his complex character, his profoundly held beliefs and deep thinking about religion - including Islam - politics, the armed services, monarchy, and the English constitution, providing an illuminating portrait of what kind of monarch Charles III will inevitably be. Although this book is not an official biography, the Prince's office, Clarence House, has agreed to cooperate with the author.

This is the story of how King Charles was shaped and moulded by his heritage. His mother was the woman he always loved but could never be close to. As Queen she held the Pandora’s box of the crown and all he could do was wait and learn. In his mother’s old age, he finally received the affection and respect from her he had craved for so long. This book documents his life through many personal anecdotes from his family and his friends from the moment the guns saluted his birth until St. Edwards Crown was placed on his head and he was officially declared as the King at his Coronation.

So well written and performed
A previous review said that there is nothing new here. i think that depends on how much you already knew.
For me this was a very informative and eye opening book. i knew something of King Charles but I know much more now. i always thought that he was criticized unfairly and I now have a whole new respect and admiration for him. i believe he is a really caring, decent man and expect his reign will be very positive and beneficial to all.

Classism 101
A biased, anti Harry & Meghan narrative based on tabloid bait-clicks and one-sided sources. "Some wondered why Meghan would even wear a veil as this was her second wedding." Seriously?! No wonder they left. If you hate Harry & Meghan then you will love this book.

Robert Jobson, an impeccable source
Fascinating account of King Charles' joys, struggles, responsibilities and moral character. A relief to read a story written by Robert Jobson, someone who actually knows Charles in person. It has been a long road for Charles as a sensitive and caring person - just the right person to be placed in the role of leader.

Not great.
I have listened and read many books on the royal family. This book was difficult to listen to and was difficult to finish. I wouldn’t recommend it at all.
