This book presents the basic fundamentals of Paganism. It explores what Pagans are like; how the Pagan sacred year is arranged; what Pagans do in ritual; what magick is; and what Pagans believe about God, worship, human nature, and ethics.

  • For those who are exploring their own spirituality, or who want a good book to give to non-Pagan family and friends
  • A hands-on learning tool with magickal workings, meditations, discussion questions, and journal exercises

Excellent book but sound is bad

This book is a great read for either newcomers to paganism or those who’ve been waking on this path for a long time. My only problem is that the narrator sounds like she speaks in a metal can. There’s a slight echo and the sound is weird, it’s distracting from the awesome text. It’s not my headphones as I use the same pair with every audiobooks and it’s the first time I hear one that sounds like this.

A good synopsis of overarching paganistic views.

Personally this book brought forward and organized many topics, beliefs, values and ethics that I had already held. What the book is great at is helping one begin to form a cohesive personal belief system by providing a solid "jumping off point".

A must read for all pagans and those interested in paganism

I must admit I was a little off put by some of the tone in the introduction regarding Christianity until I found out that the author had a very strict Christian upbringing, but this has to be the best book on paganism I’ve ever read, especially with regards to finding your own personal place in paganism rather than being forced into a specific niche — this book brings them altogether, and was very enlightening.

Great information

Great information in this book, I am sure the voice reader is a lovely woman. However, unfortunately I found the reader's voice off putting it was loud and sharp almost robotic & one dimensional. It made me feel at unease and a few times gave me a headache. Yet I do recommend the physical book.

they summed up the general coconcept very well!

Lots of great information in this book. I was surprised to realize i already think a lot like a pegan. I also learned some new concept that I will be thinking more about in the future.

Needs an accompanying PDF

Each chapter contains and/or is followed by several exercises, visualizations and journaling questions. This title would have been so much more helpful and important if it had been accompanied by a PDF containing these exercise. Or, at very least, the audiobook should have been chapterized to denote the beginning of each. This isn't just a book to read - it is one to DO - and should have included the supplemental written portion containing each exercise and thought-provoking question to allow readers to do just that. otherwise, this book is incredibly informative, neutral, and inspires deep soul-searching.

Unfortunately, the reader of this audiobook is awful. So many words are mis-pronounced and her strong American accent is incredibly off-putting.

colonial

A very white, colonial view of paganism, Indigenous culture, and non-Judeo-Christian religions. It feels like it was written in the 90s.
