About this listen

Book I of the masterful Cairo Trilogy. A national best seller in both hardcover and paperback, it introduces the engrossing saga of a Muslim family in Cairo during Egypt's occupation by British forces in the early 1900s.

A classic of Egyptian literature!

I hope amazon produces the sequels as audiobooks! They are worth making into audiobooks.

Second time reading

Beautifully narrated. This masterpiece of writing articulates with psychological insight the cultural complexities of traditional Moslem society. Thoughtful and non judgmental; guiding us to a much deeper understanding challenges us to our own biases. Brings you to Cairo and keeps you there. My favourite place to contemplate.
