About this listen
From Eric Sparling, author of Tantramar, comes a novel of horror that pits one man against nature...and against something wholly unnatural.
Phil Truss is a dead man walking. An inoperable brain tumour has sealed his fate, and there’s nothing he can do about it, even with his substantial fortune. But he can decide how to live his last remaining days.
What he wants most is to achieve a feat few ever have: summiting the dreaded mountain K2. It’s the second highest peak in the world — and one of the most treacherous and deadly ascents known to man.
Guided by a team of world class climbers, Phil soon finds himself scaling the slopes, his dying wish in sight. However, his dream quickly descends into a nightmare as a series of mysterious and lethal events plagues Phil and his party, and he begins to sense they’re not accidents. At first, Phil believes his tumour is twisting his perception of reality.
He couldn’t be more wrong.
Because he’s slowly coming under the thrall of an ancient, malignant presence that has haunted K2 for years. But this entity doesn’t want Phil dead. It wants something far more terrifying...

Excellent story! Good Narration, a fantastic match
I have to say I really enjoy this story. I actually was listening to it while snowshoeing for awhile (It's winter here). It's a refreshing style of writing, a lot of research has gone into the book. I find it easy to place myself in with the character, there is a lot of attention to detail, and good character development. I am excited for another book :)

Outstanding!!!
I love mountains, climbing and mountaineering. I was immediately drawn into the story and suspense. The story is beautifully written and flows smoothly. I could vividly picture the setting and the horror. The suspense made it hard to put away - it kept me guessing right to the end how it was all going to play out. Loved every minute of it. I will be immediately picking up Eric's previous novel Tantramar for my next read. I can't wait to see what he has in store for us next project! Also the narrator was amazing! The Varney voice chilled me to the bone! Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

Great Read
Great book. Found it to be interesting and exciting with the adventure climbing and spooky with the underlying supernatural theme. Nice mix of the two. I really liked the characters as as well, I found I could get invested in them. It was my first audio book so the narration took some getting used to but it did not take me too long to get into the story.

Really cool concept story with amazing narration!
I have only listened to a few audible books in total but this one is my new favourite! Macleod Andrews does a great job and his depiction of the character Varney (sp) hits the nail on the head! This book moves along very quickly and Mr. Sparling's knowledge of K2 and mountain climbing comes through in spades. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a great suspense/thriller!

High Altitude Suspense of the finest kind
A great audiobook to listen to while training for my next climb. The author does a great job of combining tue beauty of the sport of mountaineering along with a great mix of character development, suspense with a hint of horror. Give it a listen and go along for the epic climb of K2!
