About this listen
A Warhammer Horror audio drama.
A disgraced Vostroyan Imperial Guardsman huddles, alone and freezing, against a dark storm. Desperate for a chance to redeem himself, he grasps at any hope for peace. But in the Dark Millennium, the Gods offer nothing but horror....
Listen to it because: It's dark, atmospheric, utterly terrifying and a perfect audio horror experience, compellingly written and thunderingly performed.
The story: The wind screams. The dark night is freezing. Vossk, a Vostroyan Firstborn, shrinks into a rock against a howl of memories. Having disgraced himself by deserting his post during a terrifying encounter, Vossk had resigned himself to penal servitude, though he's yearned for the chance to redeem himself. But in the 41st Millennium, such dreams are hollow when a man’s reality has been shaken to his core. Found in the shadows of a pitiless cave, Vossk relives his tale to his rescuer. But trauma stalks the weary, and in the face of an even greater horror, it grins at those whose courage has failed them once before....

Story
In the midst of a vast gas nebula lies a remote watch-station, hanging silently against a tapestry of dying stars. It sits alone, patiently awaiting lost travellers adrift in the freezing vastness of the void. To such souls it appears as a blessing, a safe haven from the warp storms that wrack the immaterium and destroy the ships of those foolish enough to test the tides. To Captain Arq and her crew, it is one thing - refuge. But things are never so simple.

Ominous from Word One
The performance of this legitimately dark tale makes it worthwhile. The story from Alec Worley is fairly predictable and the dialogue is melodramatic, but the voice-actors (Andrew Wincott, Grace Andrews, James Cameron Stewart, and Jo Woodcock) are impressive and supplemented with excellent voice modulation (e.g. echoes) and background music/sound effects (e.g. subdued screams). Through those efforts, this fairly sophomoric (but atmospheric) tale is made captivating.
I bought this story as a 'Daily Deal' and am quite happy with the purchase. It is *very* short, but this cinema-quality production is perfect for listening to during a commute to work and back - just be prepared to sit in your car for awhile to finish listening when you get to your destination. It's gripping. 9 stars out of 10.

WOW
that was intense.
I bought this thinking it was a 19hr book, but was disappointed when it was only a 79 min short story. well, one of the best oversights I've had in a while. the intensity through out the story was great. you could feel the passion in the characters. u could easily build the pictures in your mind.
I hope there r more.
