Publisher's Summary

When Miss Seeton walks out after a performance of Carmen and witnesses a real-life stabbing, all she can recall is a shadowy figure. But how could she have guessed that her latest artistic endeavor is a picture-perfect portrait of the killer? Her sketch puts her in a perilous position, for back at her recently inherited cottage in Plummergen village, she's fated to be a sitting duck...for murder most foul!

Meet Miss Emily D. Seeton: retired art teacher Miss Seeton steps in where Scotland Yard stumbles. Armed with only her sketch pad and umbrella, she is every inch an eccentric English spinster and the most lovable and unlikely master of detection.

An okay cosy mystery

I started out enjoying the book and characters and was disappointed in the turn the character of Miss. Seaton took. She became vague and adrift - she denied much if what was going on instead of being an active participant and it is a wonder that she didn’t die early on in the story. The ending is also unsatisfactory and I resent being forced into sequels where you have to purchase the other half of the story that you have already bought. I do enjoy reading series like those of Loiuise Penny were the characters and settings continue to evolve however the current story line comes to a conclusion.
