Publisher's Summary
One great series in a single offering!
Beaten, bruised, and shot, Caleb Ledger dives off a burning yacht, desperately trying to cling to life.
It doesn’t work.
Instead of a briny death, Caleb finds himself reborn in the world of Avalon. A place of magic, levels, and quests filled with adventure involving mystery, rescues, dragons, and a revenge-obsessed warlock.
After a rocky arrival, Caleb hunts for a buoyant way to adapt to his new life. With no way to make an honest living upon the sea, there’s an obvious answer: the path of the privateer, the byway of the buccaneer, the skull and crossbones. Armed with a cutlass, pistol, and weather magic, Caleb stands no chance unless he figures out how to level up in a hurry!

Overly repetitive on the RPG aspects. Constantly reusing the exact same phrasings as descriptions. Predictable story.
It's listenable due to the effort of the narrators. But I do not need an entire character sheet repeated to me over and over again due to one miniscule change. The main character is your typical blockhead for the most part except when he needs to have epiphanies. Oh my class that specifies that I need to be properly attired or it may stop working has stopped working, and I just can't figure out why. The idea was there, the story was predictable but overall it was not for me. I mostly felt aggravated that the MC would gloss over or struggle to puzzle out obvious solutions constantly.
