About this listen
A rock star walks into a bar....
Certified behavioral counselor (and former band groupie) Becca Forrester needs a break. Taking a leave of absence from her job, she moves into the apartment over her parents’ garage and clinches a gig waitressing at a dive bar known for bringing in big name musicians.
Cedric “Linx” Lincoln is a certified rock star. Bassist for the hugely popular rock band Dimefront, he’s in Denver while the band is on hiatus a-freaking-gain. He's looking for something - anything - to keep him occupied until they can all get back to making music. When he saunters into his friend’s bar, he finds the perfect diversion.
Becca’s presence is a breath of fresh air. The sizzle she ignites in him is precisely what he needs. Bonus: no-stress, no-strings hookups are his specialty. But when things between them tip toward serious, his band implodes, and Becca's leave of absence ends, they’re forced to decide what their “real” lives should look like. Maybe there’s room for an encore....

"Gaffaw-lit" at its best!
When I need a heavy dose of humor in my romance I turn to Christina Hovland, Julia Kent or Pippa Grant. Christina shares that knack for observing the obserdities of daily family or professional life, the circuitous nature of the female internal dialogue; and the the bizarre seemingly illogical nature of male risk-taking behaviour with the other goddesses of Rom.Coms; but she excels at interconnected world building so that we get glimpses of her memorable cast of characters from previous books (I'm looking at you Babushka!) in each new book.
This time around we get a Rockstar romance with a strangely grounded although swaggering rock god Linx, Cedric-to our heroine. He's lived and enjoyed the life his fame and wealth have afforded him, but unlike his bandmates he figured out a long time ago that excess kills his joy for making music. So, he appears to indulge (ginger ale in his beer bottles, and one regular hookup in each city on regular tours) while actually exercising "moderation " rocker style. Into his life , and the bar owned by his former band manager, wanders Becca, a therapist (and former groupie ) taking a vacation from her life to figure out what she wants from her emotionally demanding career. The former groupie in her cannot resist his talent and charisma, and the Rockstar is drawn to the all-seeing, patient, empathetic soul in her. Cue life's obstacle course, and the insecurities of human nature for a wonderfully romantic and funny tale.
Stella Hunter and Zachary Webber are wonderful here.. Stella captures Becca's funny, sassy, insightful internal dialogue; and Zachary's comedic timing is brilliant. Listening to his chapters is akin to listening to a sketch comedy troop- perfect timing and unique character delineation.
I've used wonderful a few too many times in this review but this story is a delight from start to finish! Well worth the price and time spent on it. Nicely done Ms. Hovland, Ms Hunter, and Mr. Webber.
