About this listen

The first book in the scorching new Hot Jocks series by New York Times best-selling author Kendall Ryan - available in audio first!

I've never been so stupid in my entire life.

Elise Parrish, my teammate's incredibly sweet and gorgeous younger sister, should have been off-limits, but my hockey stick didn't get the memo.

After our team won the championship, our flirting turned physical, and I took her to bed. Then shame sent her running the next morning from our catastrophic mistake.

She thinks I don't remember that night - but every detail is burned into my brain so deeply, I’ll never forget. The feel of her in my arms, the soft whimpers of pleasure I coaxed from her perfect lips....

And now I’ve spent three months trying to get her out of my head, but I’m starting to understand she’s the only girl I’ll ever want.

I have one shot to show her I can be exactly what she needs, but Elise won’t be easily convinced.

That’s okay, because I’m good under pressure, and this time, I’m playing for keeps.

This was okay but nothing all that special. I enjoyed seeing how the relationship progressed but it was almost too formulaic for me. I found myself being able to ignore half the plot because it was easy to know what was going to happen next. It was good for what I needed (a snap back into audiobooks and reading in general) but I was meh overall.

Enjoyed This!

I thought this book was very good !
Love a good hockey romance, would recommend.
I liked that they had a male and female voice and how the chapters were going back and forth.

Very cute !!!

As stated above, there are a lot of cute and sexy moments. If it were a more memorable story, I would give it 5 stars, but alas. That said I did thoroughly enjoy this book, and the male narrator!! Female voice was really good, but not amazing like I've heard in some other novels. I guess that's one factor that comes in when you are on Audible so much - you hear a lot of narrators, find your favorites and compare.

This is a great book. And anyone that reads this review before starting to listen: definitely recommend.

A lot of cute and hot moments

Male narrator was dead on. Loved the steam and the story. I’ve been a fan of Kendall Ryan since I started reading romance. She knows how to write a great story.

Awesome book

I love the best friend's little sister trope, and this story also had tons of fun and heart. I grew up in hockey rinks, and it was wonderful reading all the details about hockey camaraderie and their friend group. I really wish the books in this series would get bundled because they are a bit expensive for a 6hr book, I'd love to use a credit and get a few of them.

Wishing they had Boxed Sets

This was a cute book, I really liked both narrators they did a great job at bringing this story to life.

that Elise (the heroine) was a virgin and slept with Justin (the hero) and then after a few moments (which was a few characters) they started a friends with benefit relationship.

Cute book, and I really liked both narrators

As a newcomer to Kendall Ryan's literary world, "Playing for Keeps" caught me off guard in all the best ways. Tucked away in my Audible library for what felt like eons, I finally indulged, and boy, am I glad I did. Jason Clarke's narration was the magic touch that drew me into the narrative, enhancing every moment of this captivating story.

Entering blind into this brother's best friend hockey romance, I found myself ensnared from the get-go. The chemistry between the characters crackled with intensity, and the dialogue was a symphony of wit and emotion. From tender moments to heart-pounding passion, this book delivered a rollercoaster of feels that kept me utterly engrossed.

Despite being a debut foray into Ryan's repertoire, it's safe to say it won't be my last. "Playing for Keeps" was a flawless journey from start to finish, a literary masterpiece I couldn't bear to set aside. Unexpectedly delightful, it easily ranks among my top reads of the year thus far.

Synopsis:
Ryan sets the stage with a tale of forbidden desire, weaving a narrative of temptation and redemption within the world of championship hockey. When a moment of weakness leads to a passionate encounter between teammates, lines are blurred and hearts are left in turmoil. With determination and undeniable chemistry, our protagonists navigate the complexities of love, trust, and second chances in a story that resonates long after the final page.

"Playing for Keeps" isn't just a romance; it's a testament to the power of love's enduring hold and the strength found in vulnerability. So, grab your favorite beverage, settle in, and prepare to be swept away by Kendall Ryan's irresistible storytelling prowess.

A Surprisingly Sweet Surprise

I liked this story it was sweet, I did however find it strange the way that they voiced one another in there chapters… why couldn’t they just use the voice actors for both chapters. Hearing Elise do a Justin and Justin doing Elise actually made me laugh out loud a few times and took away from some seriously good moments. Also the chapter when justin visits Elise at her school for career day and the children voices had me laughing so hard it was so awkward lol! But for a free story it was cute and good and I enjoyed it :)
